Because a picture is worth a thousand words

Rich Internet applications

Rich Internet applications (RIA) are web applications that have the features and functionality of desktop programs. Using CSS and javascript, the presentation of images in image gallery or slideshow format allow the user in many cases to customize their image viewing experience.

jQuery

jQuery is a lightweight JavaScript library that emphasizes interaction between JavaScript and HTML. As an engine to manipulate images, jQuery is used with Thickbox to provide a larger, centered image with title and caption attributes, and previous and next navigation capabilities. Utilizing thumbnails and Thickbox, users can choose to view larger images without reloading a page.

Thickbox powered by jQuery

ThickBox is a presentation widget whose function is to show a single image, multiple images, inline content, iframed content, or content served through AJAX. Unlike Lightbox, Thickbox can show images or any combination of images and or text in any format possible using HTML & CSS.

Mootools

Mootools is a compact, modular, object-oriented JavaScript web application framework, intended to make the process of writing extensible and cross-browser compatible code more efficient. Mootools is lightweight, powerful and the rich effects library uses the same physics-easing equations as most Adobe Flash programmers have come to know. Mootools is compatible and fully tested with Safari, Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Firefox, Opera and Camino.

Smooth Gallery powered by Mootools

Using mootools the
Smooth Gallery gallery and slideshow system allows you to have simple and smooth (cross-fading...) image galleries, slideshows, showcases and other cool stuff like Tabbed Image Accordians on your website.

Above is just a small sampling of some of the image presentation options available with Rich Internet Applications. See something you like on the internet? Just ask.
